Mayan Holidaze Details Announced


Mayan Holidaze, the latest not-in-the-US superjam announced more details about what will be going on in in Mexico next January. The details are quite interesting...acoustic STS9? Now that's different! There are also acoustic sets by The Disco Biscuits and Umprey's McGee. UM's set will be an all request set too. Check out the details below:

Cloud 9 Adventures is proud to announce the lineup and details of Mayan Holidaze – the newest event in the Cloud 9 family, which includes the always sold-out Jam Cruise and Caribbean Holidaze. The past three years have seen Holidaze in Jamaica but this year, Mayan Holidaze will move the all-inclusive musical adventure to the beautiful shores of Mexico’s Mayan Riviera. Mayan Holidaze will feature host bands The Disco Biscuits, Umphrey’s McGee and STS9, for four nights, from January 20-24, 2011.


Not only will The Disco Biscuits, Umphrey’s McGee and STS9 each perform 2 full shows, each band will also treat fans to a more rare and intimate performance: Axe the Cables, an acoustic set by STS9; Tractorbeam, an all instrumental performance by The Disco Biscuits; and Elige la Musica by Umphrey's McGee, an all-request set. Special guests will also be announced in the coming months.

The beautiful locale and luxurious accommodations at the Now Sapphire Resort & Spa complete the Mayan Holidaze vacation. Located in the small fishing town of Puerto Morelos, 15 minutes south of Cancun in the Mayan Riviera, the Now Sapphire is a first-class, all-inclusive resort that boasts spacious suites, an incredible on-site spa, gourmet restaurants, beachfront palapas, poolfront Bali beds, and of course, stunning ocean views. Mayan Holidaze offers music fans a genuine luxury vacation featuring days relaxing on the beach with friends and nights listening to their favorite bands perform in paradise.

As a courtesy, Holidaze guests from past events will be eligible for an exclusive presale to be held on May 12; all remaining rooms will go on sale to the general public on May 13th at 12pm Eastern at www.mayanholidaze.com.

Only 400 rooms total will be available for sale to the general public, and a limited number of rooms will be sold at early bird pricing. Early bird pricing starts at $899 per person for triple occupancy rooms, and at $999 for double occupancy rooms, with Oceanfront rooms starting at $1399 per person. A limited number of rooms are available for families who wish to bring their children, with a complete Kid’s program offered by the resort.

Umphrey's McGee 2010 Summer Tour Announced

Wow, these guys are the epitomy of a touring band! Following the starting line at Summercamp at the end of this month, Umphrey's McGee will embark on a tour that has dates set in May, June, July and August. The 4th of July holiday will be spent in the Rockies where they will play Red Rocks on the 3rd and the Gothic Theater in Englewood, Co on the 4th. Get this though, they are playing in Oxford, ME on July 2nd at the Nateva Music and Arts Fest. They are also playing every other festival that you can think of - All Good, Wakarusa, Forecastle and of course, Bonnaroo. C'mon Iwinski, you're killing these guys! I'm sure they can handle it.

Jam Cruise 9 Setting Sail in 2011

I can't believe that we are already preparing for Jam Cruise 9! The ship is set to hit the water Jan 4 - 9, 2011. They have an above average line up for this installment as well. Any time that you have 3 members of the Grateful Dead isolated on a ship with a load of other talented musicians something cool is bound to happen. As we all know, Jam Cruise is definately down with serious artist mash ups and late night jams.
Jam Cruise 9 has a little bit of everything. Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzman and Mickey Hart will be rocking the boat, Bob with Scaring the Children featuring Jay Lane and Rob Wasserman and Mickey and Billy will be doing the legendary Rhythm Devils beats. Robert Randolph will hit up the funky soul, Lotus with bring the electronic rock beats abd Greensky Bluegrass and Cornmeal will dust the strings with a bunch more funky music in between.
