String Cheese Incident SBD - Horning's Hideout 7/15/2000

Hey CheeseHeads! Here is a spectacular copy of the second night of the initial installment of the legendary String Cheese Incident Horning's Hideout shows. This recording contains all 3 sets and is of superb quality both musically and sound quality wise. Isn't it great to have them back?
The show features the early, exciting funk that the band had perfected by this time in their career. The guys shared the stage with several other musicians throughout the night. They allowed their guests to be as much of the part of the band as they themselves were. Keller Williams and Dr. Didg did their things along with a laundry list of others. A true, early insight into the evolution of the sound that continually developed leading to their period of rest. Also a great inclination of why they are still doing what they do today.
Check it out here and download it at the link below. Enjoy!

moe. - Bear Creek 2010 SBD

moe. pics from Bear Creek Music Fest 2010

Ok, so maybe I am misrepresenting this as a true SBD, maybe it's a matrix. I don't know. What I do know is that the moe. set at the Big IV Ampitheater at Bear Creek on 11.13.2010 was a raging set that was one solid highlight. I heard through the grapevine that some tapers were allowed to tap into the SBD and I am pretty sure that this is the recording. You be the judge. Great quality. Go ahead and check it out here and follow the link for a download. Enjoy!

Introducing Spiritual Rez

Spiritual Rez was recommended to me by a friend from South Florida, and it was great to check them out in the warm, indoor theater at Bear Creek Music Festival.

The Rez, hails from Boston and consists of a troupe of pumped up musicians ready to get funky and play off the crowds positive grooves.

The 7-piece group jams a mix of reggae funk, and dances the entire set. The lead singer Toft Willingham smoothly introduced the band’s trombone player as B-House, jumping and shouting, “the crowd loves you B. "B-House" broke into a trombone solo, caressing the ears of the audience.

Willingham jumped up and down and threw himself in, bellowing out a sweet, caramel covered string of vocals. The Rez gives off a mystical and unique feel, that I noticed right away when listening to them. Van Gordon Martin’s heavy riffs balance out with Toft’s soulful voice.

Their set had a range from lofty, smooth rhythm's, to high powered riffs with trombone slides. After hearing them jam for a bit, I was dancing and feeling the positive vibrations.

I give them a big thumbs up and would recommend them to anyone who likes true funk.
