Phish 12/28/2010 - Worcester, MA Download and Video

Phish 12/28/2010 - "Frankie Says"

Phish hit the stage at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA for their second and final night of their 2 night run last night. The 2 night run kicked off a 5 show spectacular that rolls to NYC for the next 3 nights.

Just like night 1, the second night was stellar. "Kill Devil Falls" is a great up tempo opener and set the stage for an eclectic setlist. "Alaska" began with vocal samples that sounded pretty much like they were our best friend Sarah Palin. Trey introduced "Pigtail" as a surprise for the songs co-writer Tom Marshall who was watching the show at home and was unaware that it would be played. Decent tune, sounds just like a Trey/Tom tune! Show highlights came with the two longest songs of the evening "Stash" in the first set and "Harry Hood" in the second. Stash is Stash and it pretty much always rages. Hood was it's usual self in contemporary form going from the free-flowing intro/chorus into a choppy jam that melded quite well back into the serene sweetness that it has always been known for. I expect to hear that one again at MSG.

Phish 12/27/2010 Worcester, MA - DCU Center - Download and Bowie Video

Phish kicked off the holiday season in Worcester, MA with a bang last night with the first night of a 5 night run that will wind up in NYC at MSG. It will be the close to, what many fans feel, what may be one of the best years in the history of the band. The first night was no joke. Say what you will, but a "Loving Cup" encore has meaning. From my experience is it what you call an indicator encore. The show was sick and it indicates that more sickness is to follow. Sorry to recite the obvious.

Check out the quick HQ video of the David Bowie jam last night and download the show FOR FREE at the link here:

Free Asher Roth Download - The Rawth EP w/Nottz

Christmas may be over, however we keep bringing you free gifts in the form of music! Below is a link to a free download of a new collabo from Asher Roth. He hooked up with Nottz and created this Rawth EP. It is an 8 track EP with both MCs writing rhymes and Nottz lacing the tracks. Highly listenable and a step in the right direction for AR.

My history with AR is pretty short. I was quite amused (or possibly amazed) when I witnessed his set at Camp Bisco in 2009. His music is pretty tight, he fits the bill of the typical "white rapper," but has funky stage presence. His lyrics are ganja infused, but his stage show even more so. He rolled across the stage in a kiddie Cadillac Escalade during his "Blunt Roll." That, of course, followed an actual blunt roll which was smoked on the mini truck. He then began passing his blunt to a few irie front row fans. When a bogarting fan forgot to "puff, puff, give," he abruptly told them to give him his smoke back. Hilarious.

Asher Roth's personality and stage show may shine brighter than his music, but this EP is definitely worth the download. Enjoy the free music and play it real loud the next time you go on a blunt roll of your own!

Jerry Garcia and David Grisman Free SBD - 9/17/1993 NPR Studios New York, NY

Jerry Garcia & David Grisman - photo compliments of http://www.jungle.net/

Happy Holidays from the LMS family to yours. What better way to celebrate the holidays than by listening to some good 'ole Garcia Grisman bluegrass. Below is a link to a really neat, raw show that they did at the NPR studios in New York City. It exemplifies the fun that Jerry was having during his later years. Great music always spewed from speakers whenever this duo got together. This is also a great quality recording.
Enjoy and again, Happy Holidays!

GreenSky BlueGrass Video - 6/4/2010

Greensky Bluegrass - 6/4/2010 - Bell's Brewery, Kalamazoo, MI - "American Band"

Homeboys Greensky Bluegrass hooked up the Bell's Brewery Beer Garten opening with a sick show. Peep this recording (from a fans point of view) of their performance of "American Band." I have not personally heard a better rendition since Kid Rock hit the stage with Phish waaaaaaay back in 2001 in Vegas!
Make sure you peep the entire video. Half way through the song an old school grunge groopie lays out and blasts a sick crowd surf. C'mon dude! Lake Michigan is only an hour away...Great video of some real new/jam/blue/green/grass!

Keller Williams Winter Tour 2011 - 2 Shows in the Chi on 2/5

Keller Williams - 5.23.2009 - Summer Camp - Chillicothe, IL

It is well known that Keller Williams is the master of on-stage "looping." He has taken his looping to another level and is now looping shows! Keller is playing a matinee children/families show on 2/5 in Chicago to celbrate the release of his first children's book Because I Said So. He is also mixing it up on his upcoming winter tour. He has stops scheduled in every music city in the country, and everywhere in between. Although the majority are solo, some stops include sets played with his partners Larry and Jenny Keel, his mates on their latest, all cover release Thief. Yes, once again, Keller does things a little different than the average (folk) rock star. It begs the question...what's next Keller?

Keller Williams Solo
322 W. Armitage Ave. Chicago, IL
Tickets $23 / Ages 18+ Welcome

One-man-band Keller Williams is on tour this winter. In addition to evening theatre shows in Austin, Chicago, and Philadelphia, Keller has confirmed some special matinee performances/book signings in select markets. That’s right, book signings. Hand-in-hand with the release of Keller Williams’ sixteenth album — and first-ever album for kids and families — appropriately titled Kids, Keller once again breaks new ground with the November 30 release of his very first children’s book, Because I Said So (Fun Read Publishing, $20, for ages 2-8, 33 pages).

KIDS – Keller’s first album release for children and families - has already been warmly embraced by kids’ and music tastemakers:

"[Keller's] big-hearted wit is perfectly suited to the songs on Kids, a record that will entertain children of all ages without talking down to them." - All Music Guide

“Kids sparkles with invention.” - Technorati.com

“This is hands-down my favorite kids album of all time.” - Perfect Porridge

Keller’s children’s book, Because I Said So, is based on Keller’s song by the same name (included on Kids) and is enhanced by the cleverly drawn illustrations of Virginia artist Bill Harris. Because I Said So is humorous, colorful, heartfelt, and wise. Included with the book is a CD containing the song. Because I Said So is available at http://www.kellerwilliamskids.net/.

moe. Spring 2010 Tour Dates Announced

moe. - moe.down 9 - August 2008 - Tammy Wetzel Photography

Moe. announced 7 dates in April for their 2010 Spring Tour. The tour kicks off in St. Louis, MO and includes three stops in sunny Florida. These guys are pretty much balls to the walls right now. I think this whole 20 year realization has been a big kick in the ass for the guys. They realized what they created over the years and rekindled the flame of what they will create in the future.

The Albany, NY show this month was a blowout that featured several new tunes by various members of the band. They have the 2 night Boston, MA NYE run, the Throe. down in the Dominican Republic after the new year, a massive west coast winter tour, a few stops in Asia, snoe. down, spring tour (I expect a few more dates to be announced) and then, of course, Summer Camp. Holy moe.!!

I just saw them a few weeks ago at the Bear Creek Music Fest and feel that they are playing as well as they have in the 14 years that I have been seeing their shows. Check the tour dates below:

APR 01 The Pageant St. Louis, MO
6161 Delmar Blvd.

APR 02 Madison Theater Covington, KY
730 Madison

APR 03 Valarium Knoxville, TN
1213 Western Ave

APR 06 Culture Room Ft. Lauderdale, FL
3045 N. Federal Highway

APR 07 The Ritz Tampa, FL
1503 E. 7th Ave.

APR 08 House of Blues Lake Buena Vista, FL

APR 09 Charlotte Fillmore Charlotte, NC

Old School Phish Print - Jim Pollock 8/17/1989

I myself have to admit that this is pretty cool. This is a copy of the original Jim Pollock Phish print for their performance at The Front on 8/17/1989. I believe that it was done with a pen then copied. Like the sound of Phish continually evolves, so does the art work of their personal print man pollock. The Phish phamily has remained so tight for so many years. Wonder what an original copy of this print would sell for???

Greenhouse Lounge Bear Creek 2010 SBD

Greenhouse Lounge - Blackwater Music - 8/26/2010

Jacksonville, FL based dub-step ragers, Greenhouse Lounge, dropped the SBD from their set at this years Bear Creek Festival for FREE!! Super talented and young, these guys are ahead of the game in the dub-step/live-electronica genre. Their sound easily surpasses that of their competition. One of the hottest bands in the FL music scene right now. Hook up the SBD download, then hit up their web-site to peep their sound some more.

Follow the link at the bottom of the page for the free SBD download. Enjoy!

Perpetual Groove - Sledgehammer Video - 12/3/2010 - State Theater - St. Pete, FL - De Jam Vu Productions

Perpetual Groove 12/3/2010 - St. Pete, FL - "Sledgehammer"

Although often covered, in my book, P-Groove throws down the sickest rendition of Peter Gabriels hit "Sledgehammer." Brock Butler's vocals are unmatched by the competition. This is a great version of the tune. Tampa based jam/rock/newgrass blazers Cope opened the show and it was a night to remember. Enjoy the video!
Check dejamvu.com for more of your favorite bands in video.

Diocious - 88.5 Tampa, FL Studio Set - 10/26/2010

1. Intro
2. Water Deer
3. The Lucky Buffalo
4. Pretty Collar
5. Head of Steam
6. Cabin Fever
7. On the Lawn Again
8. Cellophane

Check out his quality recording of Diocious from their in studio set on Thor Bendickson's radio show. The set was played live on 10/26/2010 on Tampa, FL radio station 88.5. It is a great quality recording and the Central Florida based rock trio was on point for the set.
The set opened with a personal favorite of mine with "Water Deer." The song is well orchestrated and has hilariously trippy lyrics. Big up to drummer/vocalist, Partin Whitaker, for that track. Enjoy the set and go to Archive.org to download it at the link below.

moe. 12.4.2010 - Albany, NY - A. Hill Photography

Check out these shots of moe. from 12/4 at the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany, NY. Big up to Andy Hill for the great shots of moe. (as usual) and a few nice shots of the fans raging the front row. Although I have never been to the Armory, I have heard great things about it.
Moe. always rages their home state too. This show was dubbed the Electric Le - moe. - Nade acid test. It featured space aliens on stage (see pics!) throughout the show. The boys are maintaining their mature look and continue hitting the stage with class in their suits. Playing together for 20 years will make you do things like that. You know?
The show itself was epic by today's standards for moe. Fans can no longer complain that they are not bringing new tunes to the table. They hooked up 5 first timers and a host of legendary O.G.'s - namely the "Recreational Chemistry" 2nd set closer and the "Mexico" encore. What a great close to an epic evening in moe. history.

Great work and thank you Andy Hill!!

Here is the set list:

Set 1: Chromatic Nightmare1, Not Coming Down > Wormwood > Interstellar Overdrive > Moth, Suck A Lemon2, Plane Crash

Set 2: No Refrain3 > Buster > Meat > Mar-Dema4 > Meat, Silver Sun5 > Recreational Chemistry

Encore: Mexico

1First time played (Jim song, instrumental)
2First time played (Chuck song)
3First time played (Rob song)
4First time played (Vin song, instrumental)
5First time played (Al song)

Pretty Lights - "Future Blind" Video

Pretty Lights - "Future Blind" - By Possible Productions

In accordance with the music of Pretty Lights, this video is pretty trippy. Solid music and a simple, yet effective video to go along with it. One YouTube reviewer said that it reminded him/her of when they smoked salvia! You be the judge.

Buy Trey's House!

Trey's throne...

The guys over at phishandthedead.com posted that Trey Anastasio is selling his Vermont home. I have no idea where these guys come up with this stuff!! It did, however, bring to mind how cool it would be to share the best seat in the house with our boy Trey! Haha...

RIP John Lennon/Happy Birthday Jim Morrison

The Beatles - In My Life

John Lennon reppin the city where his
life was taken

30 years ago today music legend and Beatles front man John Lennon was senselessly gunned down on the streets of New York City. I was 2 years old but felt the impact my entire life. We have all heard the stories of how the Beatles revolutionized music, culture and life as teenagers would see if from 1964 on. I largely credit the Beatles for directing me to my love for music. Maybe I never would have saw my first Grateful Dead show if my high school girlfriend and I didn't spend all of those hours digging through vinyl at the local record store in search of a new Beatles album. In reality, maybe I wasn't really digging for an album. I was digging for my soul. My Rubber Soul
Just like many of you, I listened to the Beatles relentlessly and supplanted them with what life had to offer my generation; the Grateful Dead, Phish and other local bands that fit the bill. Today is a day of mourning. Those who experienced his death remember where they where and what they were doing. Similar to how our generation remembers where we were on Sept. 11, 2001, or others remember where they were when President Kennedy was assassinated. My father's recollection (though not exciting) is that he was sweeping the basement floor of our new house with me sitting on the ground playing. We were listening to the local radio station when they announced the news. He was in complete disbelief. A great human being's life wasted for no known reason. Rest In Peace John Lennon - 10.9.1940 - 12.8.1980
A bearded Jim Morrison
The assassination of John Lennon typically overshadows the birth of another musical legend. Jim Morrison was born on 12.8.1943. Morrison lead the Doors through many levels of perception both musically and mentally; one in the same. Morrison, just like Lennon, lived a short life and died at the ripe age of 27 on 7.3.1971. A poet with the voice of a drunken angel. Happy birthday Jim Morrison, a true legend and everlasting icon. "No safety or surprise, the end. I'll never look into your eyes again."

The Glass Live In the Chi @ Club Berlin 12.9.2010

The Glass - At Swim Two Birds - Released Nov. 16, 2010

Chicago peeps - brave the cold, snowy weather this Thursday and roll over to Club Berlin and check out The Glass. The show kicks off their US tour. The 2 piece electro/trance/rockers will be promoting their new album At Swim Two Birds and only have one show scheduled in the mid-west, so it is a must see!
It will be a great opportunity for Chicagoans to warm up to their snare snapping, electronica, bass driven dance jams. A non-stop dance party will certainly ensue. If you are into any bit of the jamtronica scene you should definately check these guys out.
Stream the new album above and judge for yourself.
